The Optimize year-end close service add-in for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance enables year-end close processing to run outside the Application Object Server (AOS) instance for Dynamics 365 Finance resources. It uses microservice technology. The benefits that are associated with the Optimize year-end close functionality include improved performance and minimized impact on the SQL database during year-end close processing.

Before you start you need to install Optimize year end close add-in on LCS.

You need to make sure your environment is connected with power platform and use admin rights on Dataverse. else you won’t be able to install microservice for year-end closer.

Architecture and data flow

As the following illustration shows, the year-end close processing verifies that the add-in is installed and the feature is enabled. If both prerequisites are met, the year-end close runs on the microservice.

Once microservice is installed you need to make sure following feature is enabled correctly.

Once you are done with technical configuration, you need to verify and setup following year end close template.

Year-end processing across legal entity is similar like old versions.

With microservice, reversing year end closer process remain same using reverse button.
